- California set a limit on lead of .5 micrograms per serving. This product may have between .3 and .6 micrograms. I understand this seems like a lot but there are very few things in nature below this level. By contrast, the limit set by the FDA is 20 micrograms. Most cups of coffee are also over the .5 microgram threshold. Whole Foods have an exemption under the law.
